Globe myBusiness’ G Summit helps entrepreneurs pivot amid pandemic

“It’s riskier not to take risks during this time.” These are the words of Innovation Speaker and New York Times Bestselling Author Josh Linkner during the G Summit “Usapang Diskarte: Pivot your Business to Success” last September 23 via Globe myBusiness.

He further explained that in order to reduce the risk that businesses are taking during these uncertain times, they can try to practice rapid experimentation in their creative process, which lessens the impact on valuable time and resources.

Linkner is among the panel of speakers that shared strategies and practical tips to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during the G Summit on how to innovate and transform digitally amid the pandemic.

In his presentation, Linkner shared the Five Obsessions of Everyday Innovators: 1) Start before you’re ready, 2) Break it to fix it, 3) Use every drop of toothpaste, 4) Reach for weird, and 5) Fall seven times, stand eight.

Also part of the panel are Google Philippines Business Development Manager Flo Yeow and Taxumo Co-Founder and Manila Workshops Founder Ginger Arboleda.

During his talk, Yeow shared that Filipinos are increasingly relying on digital tools to learn and earn. Due to the global health crisis, Filipinos are going online more to pay for bills and purchase necessities.

For her part, Arboleda shared her personal experiences in setting up her businesses. She also gave tips on how to shift one’s mindset and rethink strategies in doing business. Adapting quickly and building relationships are key to digital transformation.

After their talks, the panelists were rounded up in a panel discussion moderated by CIA Bootleg Manila Co-Founder Aaron Palileo. The speakers were asked how to differentiate their business from competitors, to which Yeow shared, “You have to find the white spaces, find where the people are not,” which means that businesses should find products or services that are different from what others are currently offering.

There’s also a need to “automate personalization to every client,” which will elevate your customers’ experience with your product or service, according to Yeow.

Arboleda, meanwhile, explained that focusing on competitors is only a distraction: “It’s good to know what your competition is doing, but it’s better if you just focus on what you’re doing.”

When asked what are their go-to habits or techniques in developing their creative juices, Linkner said that just like with anything, regular practice is the way to go: “Micro doses of creativity combined with high frequency.”

G Summit is part of Globe’s annual 0917 celebration, and it provided business owners with valuable insights on digital tools that will help them pivot their businesses and achieve success.

Participants of the G Summit were provided a Diskarte Kit, co-created with Palileo, which is a tool kit to help business owners find opportunities that can help unleash their inner diskarte with the segments: Reflect, Generate, and Implement. Frameworks were provided to help guide MSMEs, depending on their business objectives.

Moreover, several MSMEs shared their stories of determination, resiliency, and how they pivoted to survival and success in the Diskarte Heroes stories, which were also provided to the participants. The series will be continuously updated with more heroes in the days to come.

Apart from the G Summit, Globe myBusiness offers its loyal customers the Para Sa Negosyo: SME Raffle Draw, where Globe myBusiness customers can win over 1 million in prizes. The grand prize in the raffle is a complete marketing production package worth P250,000 through Globe Studios. Other prizes include productivity bundles, work-from-home sets, and Amber SMS blaster Plans.
