PPGPI’s 3 LPG-fired power generators in Quezon now online
A subsidiary of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. and its American partner, Mesa Natural Gas Solutions LLC, have switched on three 350-kilowatt, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-fired power generators for a pilot run in Quezon province.
The parent firm said in a statement this was part of efforts of Phoenix Pilipinas Gas and Power Inc. (PPGPI) to develop a market among commercial customers for the generators, which could also run on natural gas.
Fired up last Aug. 31, the three generator sets are now providing round-the-clock power supply to Balesin Island Club, an exclusive resort located on that island.
The generators arrived from the United States in June and are using propane-rich LPG provided by Phoenix.
Also, the project is part of Phoenix’s energy diversification campaign, which dovetails with the resort’s sustainable initiatives such as water harvesting, water recycling, on-site eco-friendly transportation, and organic farming.
“With Balesin’s gradual return to full operations from the current community quarantine measures, the pilot run will effectively provide cleaner power to the entire island resort,” Phoenix president Henry Bong Fadullon said.
