Globe gets LGU permits for cell sites

Globe Telecom received clearance from various local government units (LGUs) to build cell sites across the country, part of its push to boost connectivity.

This comes after government bodies recently joined forces to streamline and cut the permitting process, which used to take several months, to a few weeks.

In a statement on Friday, Globe said it secured 26 permits from LGUs across the country.

For northern and southern Luzon, Globe said permits were given in Sto. Domingo, Agoo and Vigan in Ilocos Sur, and Sto. Tomas and Batangas City in Batangas.

The company also received permits to build sites in Toledo City, Cebu. Areas in Mindanao include Butuan City in Agusan Del Norte; Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur and Cagayan De Oro City in Misamis Oriental.

“As we have pointed out many times in the past, Globe is an ally of LGUs, especially during this time of the pandemic, as they look for ways to better serve their constituents in the new normal,” Globe senior vice president Joel Agustin said.

Globe said 25 LGUs have removed the need for a Sangguniang Bayan resolution to allow telcos to expand their network.

The Sangguniang Bayan resolution is among the previously mandated 29 permits telcos need to build one single cell site.
