Appreciating suburban life

/ 04:12 AM August 01, 2020

Residing in the suburbs is no foolish idea. People are really heading out of cities to resettle in country homes.

A couple of years back, homes in the fringes would be scoffed at given the nightmarish travel challenges. Right now, however, the government is seriously addressing the traffic woes to, from and within cities. As a result, what then took hours now takes minutes, and new routes are opening many off-city areas to progress.

Also making a case for this love for suburban living is the new normal. The advantages of cities make them prone to outbreaks, so settling outside them may be wise. Health experts also harp on well-being as a defense against infections like COVID-19, and science correlates a laid-back, nature-bound life to better health, better environment, lower incidences of health concerns and more meaningful social life. Inner-city homes can potentially be a bane if we are indeed in an “era of pandemics.”

La Huerta in Calamba, Laguna offers four garden communities within its 50-hectare estate, namely El Sol, El Cielo, La Luna and La Lluvia.

Farm living in Laguna

La Huerta in Calamba offers life in a farm estate. Sta. Lucia Land Inc. (SLI) ensures that the home would enable residents to plant. Buyers can build only on a limited portion of the lot so that the rest of it could turn into an “agricultural gym,” with horticulturists on hand for training. The site offers scenic views of Mount Makiling and Laguna de Bay, further encouraging dwellers to have their own farms.

There are four garden communities to choose from within the 50-hectare estate. El Sol is a cluster enriched with herbs and vegetables. El Cielo is an ostrich-farm community. Find coffee, cacao, bignay, noni and dragon fruit at La Luna. Finally, La Lluvia has tropical palms and flowers.

Despite providing an ambiance of insulation, the neighborhood is still near schools, churches, hospitals, as well as retail and leisure establishments. Workdays in Makati are 45 minutes away and hangouts in Tagaytay, about 10 minutes away.

Residents and guests at 128 Nivel can view the Metro Cebu cityscape on one side and Mount Busay from another.

Premium hillside home in Cebu

In Cebu City, SLI offers 128 Nivel Hills. The mixed-use development in Lahug features three 36-storey towers holding residences, a condotel and a hotel. All rooms and units evoke a unified sense of refinement and suaveness. The project also provides five-star amenities like a gym, wellness center, pools and meeting rooms. It clears all of Cebu City’s standards for green infrastructures.

Occupants can view the Metro Cebu cityscape on one side of the project and Mount Busay on the other. It is near Cebu IT Park and Cebu Business Park, making it desirable for workers. Schools, hospitals, malls and ecotourism spots are likewise minutes away.

It’s tucked away from the bustling city, but still accessible to the comforts of the metropolis. It will enjoy greater accessibility soon because of the many road projects designed to address the traffic within and around the Lahug area.

Metropolitan living in Cavite

General Trias got a huge boost from the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax), a project that connects the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) to the Cavite Expressway (Cavitex). The project wants to improve mobility and increase economic dynamism in the areas it traverses.

Even before the road is finished, the city is already reaping the rewards: industrial hubs, schools, hospitals and estates are mushrooming. Among the new estates is SLI’s Nottingham Villas at Metro South. It heralds the metropolitan life in a booming semiurban city.

The neighborhood enables dwellers to forge closer relations given its features and amenities. Metro Manila workers can get home quickly by plying the Metro Manila Skyway and then SLEx; soon by taking Cavitex and then Calax. From the project, people can also get to ecotourism destinations swifter.

If you have been mulling over getting a home in the suburbs, now is a great time to decide. During the month of August, Sta. Lucia Marketing is offering the Easypay Promo for the above properties. Within the month, get great discounts and flexible payment terms. With the fringes rising fast, this love for off-city homes may just be a new normal.
