Amid today’s public health crisis, M Lhuillier has been constantly fulfilling its promise of being the “Tulay ng PaMLyang Pilipino”. Recently, they extended help to the Vatican through a Filipino Augustinian nun based in the city-state.
Sr. Maria Monica Bejolde, OSA, and the nuns of the Augustinian Monastery saw a post on M Lhuillier’s Facebook page about the Cebu-based company’s face shield donations to hospitals around Cebu. Due to insufficient supply in Italy, Sr. Maria Monica sent an email requesting for face shields.
M Lhuillier immediately granted Sr. Maria Monica’s request. On June 3, 2020, 50 face shields were successfully sent to the Vatican. The Augustinian nuns expressed their appreciation of the donation and even shared it with doctors in Italy. Early this year, Italy was one of the countries badly hit by the COVID-19 health crisis and was once the epicenter of the pandemic.
As the Filipino people continue to fight the COVID-19 crisis, M Lhuillier aims to help the community however they can. They have donated essentials like food packs, sacks of rice, alcohol, face shields, and water to various hospitals, LGUs, government agencies, and border checkpoints as their support to frontliners who have been tirelessly working amid the pandemic.
The resiliency and courage of the Filipinos amid natural calamities and disasters have always been an inspiration for M Lhuillier to do its part in rebuilding the community. The company was able to send relief goods and tents to Davao and Cotabato after massive earthquakes rocked parts of Mindanao in 2019. The same support was also sent to victims of typhoon Ursula in Panay Island in December 2019 and the Taal volcano eruption in January 2020.
