Vivant, Malaysian firm partner for solar rooftop projects

Vivant Energy Corp. has tapped Malaysia-based Solarvest Holdings for two contracts covering the installation of a total of about 1.2 megawatts of solar rooftop systems at the University of San Carlos in Iloilo City and at Bulihan Industrial Park in Bulacan.

One contract, which is already in progress, involves the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning works at 10 designated buildings. The project has an aggregate capacity of 816.2 kilowatt peak (or kwp, which means its peak performance such as at noon).

The other contract is for the development of 377.52-kwp solar photovoltaic systems in Bulacan. The agreements were signed in March and both projects are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2020.

“We choose partners based on a shared commitment in providing innovative, diverse and customer-focused energy solutions that will enable our customers to turn challenges into opportunities in our changing world,” Vivant Energy chief operating officer Emil Andre Garcia said of Solarvest.

He said that Vivant Energy, which combined existing and emerging technologies to develop energy solutions for industries and institutions, had also became a major player in the off-grid market, which was usually remote areas such as islands.
