Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho-Bernardo to auction off his Kawasaki Vulcan S650 to help Pasigueños
The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Pasig City Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo to start the “Sneakers Auction for a Cause” last March to raise funds for personal protective equipment, hygiene kits, food packs, and other essential items for the city’s frontliners and less-fortunate families.
It didn’t take long for the auction to get the public’s attention and support. In just two months since its launching, Vice Mayor Bernardo was able to auction off more than 220 sneakers and raise P340,000.00 to help in the COVID-19 prevention and relief efforts of the city.
“Marami po ang mga nagtutulong-tulong para mas marami pang matulungan ang Sneakers & Other Valuables Auction for a Cause. Salamat din po sa mga kilalang PBA legends, current star players ng PBA, MPBL, UAAP at NCAA league players, sneakers vloggers Big Boy Cheng and Carlo Ople, broadcaster/sneakers enthusiast Julius Babao at mga artists and TV personalities, Senator Pacquiao, Senator Go, Senator Tolentino at iba pang public officials, mga private individuals, companies and organizations mula sa iba’t-ibang lugar ng bansa, at mga kapwa ko Pasigueño na nagpamahagi ng kanilang blessings. Salamat po sa pagtulong sa mga Pasigueño!” the Vice Mayor said.
Encouraged by the public’s interest and support, the Vice Mayor decided to expand the auction’s selection to include sports memorabilia and other valuable items. All the proceeds of the motorcycle, along with the sneakers, will be used to provide food packs to Pasigueños who are suffering from cancer, kidney ailments, and diabetes, and also children with heart ailments.
“We want to invite more people to share their blessings so we can buy more food and essential items to help our less-fortunate constituents. Your auction donations will go a long way.
