Pru Life UK gives away free COVID-19 life insurance to 500,000 Filipinos
To ease the financial pain that the COVID-19 pandemic had also inflicted on families of the sick and deceased, insurer Pru Life UK is giving away free life insurance coverage to half a million Filipinos.
Pru Life UK already turned over free COVID-19 protection and personal accident insurance policies to 100,000 FIlipinos, including health workers, through its Pulse app since April 13, it said in a statement on Friday (April 23).
About 400,000 more of this coverage is up for grabs until May 13, it added.
Pru Life UK said that the coverage was a “one-time, 45-day insurance against the unfortunate event that the individual passes away as a result of COVID-19 or an accident.”
To avail of this coverage, one must download the free Pulse app from Apple App or Google Play stores and then register.
“Filipinos, aged 18 to 64 and residing in the Philippines, who have registered for this offer on the Pulse app will be entitled to a death benefit or lump-sum amount of P100,000 for the bereaved family if the insured passes away due to accident, or as a result of COVID-19, subject to terms and conditions,” the company said.

All that New Pulse app registrants have to do is create an account, complete user profiles and register for the free COVID-19 offer found in the app, Pru Life said.
It added that those who had already registered should have received an in-app notice directing them to complete their registration.
A confirmation e-mail is sent to the successful registrant.
Persons given coverage have 45 days from registration to name or update beneficiaries also through the New Pulse app.
“The free COVID-19 insurance is primarily aimed at supporting health workers who are at the frontlines in their efforts to help curb the spread of the disease,” said Pru Life.
The company, however, said people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, have symptoms, are in quarantine or are living with carriers are not eligible.
