BDO Foundation, Mitsubishi roll out capacity-building program for farmers

BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, has teamed up with Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp. for a skills upgrading program that will benefit over 100 farmers in Nueva Ecija.

The project focuses on providing capacity enhancement training to farmers organization, Kooperatibang Likas ng Nueva Ecija.

In partnership with National University, BDO Foundation started to facilitate financial education training for members of the cooperative. Professors and volunteer speakers from the university gave lessons on saving, budgeting, simple accounting, proposal writing, entrepreneurship and product costing to help improve the financial literacy and productivity of the farmers.

Through the training sessions, participants also explored alternative ways to generate income.
 
As part of the memorandum of understanding (MOU), BDO Foundation and Mitsubishi will turn over tractors to the farmers’ organization.

The project was managed by BDO Foundation and funded by a donation from Mitsubishi.
