CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– Texas Instruments (TI) workers going to Clark Freeport have been assured of unhampered passage to Mabalacat City so they can continue producing microchips for medical equipment, including ventilators for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, on Saturday, said he gave that assurance to TI executives on Friday. The semiconductor giant is located at the Mabalacat side of the 4,400-hectare ecozone.
Garbo said he also promised to recruit workers for TI since only half of its 1,800-strong workforce has returned to work since March 17, when President Duterte put Luzon under quarantine.
TI gave Mabalacat 7,500 kilos of rice, 3,000 surgical masks, 1,500 pairs of disposable medical gloves, 300 N95 masks, 300 safety goggles, and 270 face shields.
Fiber optic provider Converge ICT donated 150 personal protective equipment to the city’s medical frontliners.
