Jomar Ang, son of SMC chief, passes away at 26

Jomar Ang—son of San Miguel Corp. president Ramon Ang—died last Saturday (April 11) in the morning after suffering a serious injury for which he was rushed to hospital in critical condition, the Ang family announced on Monday (April 13).

“It has been a painful experience, but we have been comforted by the expressions of love and sympathy sent to us in so many ways,” said the statement sent by Ramon and Tessie Ang.

“We appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being with us during this difficult time,” it said.

While acknowledging that many friends wanted to attend the funeral for Jomar, the family said they decided to have a private service on Easter Sunday (April 12) to celebrate the life of the 26-year-old who was the third to the youngest of a brood of eight.

The younger Ang had served as chief financial officer of BMW distributor RSA Motors, and was also involved in San Miguel Global Power Holdings Inc.

He had been a sports aficionado, who was a member of the Ateneo de Manila University’s judo team during his college years, and was also into karting winning several international races with his younger brother, Jacob.

“Jomar was a dutiful, loving, and kind-hearted son, brother, and a loyal and dedicated friend to many,” the family said. “He was a source of great joy to us and we are truly blessed to have had his love and presence in our lives. We know in our hearts that he is in a much better place now.”
