Rizal Memorial Stadium ready to accept initial 116 COVID-19 patients
The group of tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. has completed the first phase conversion of the Rizal Memorial Sport Complex (RMSC) into a COVID-19 emergency facility.
Funded by Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc., the social responsibility arm of Bloomberry Resorts Corp., the first phase retrofitted the common areas of the existing Ninoy Aquino Stadium at the RMSC into a healthcare facility with 116 beds for patients, two nurses’ stations, drywall partition wall and temporary furniture.
Phase 2 of the project will commence on April 8, once final advice from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health is given. Phase 2 will provide an additional 108 beds for patients at the RMSC, and is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
Bloomberry Resorts said in a statement on Wednesday that it’s “immensely proud to be able to support affiliate construction firm Prime Metro BMD Corp. and contribute to “bayanihan” in finding ways to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.”
