DA’s Kadiwa goes online

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has expanded the operations of its “Kadiwa” outlets by making the service available online, thus allowing local government units (LGUs) to place bulk orders of various agricultural items as most residents continue to rely on relief for their survival amid the Luzon-wide lockdown.

Kadiwa, which stands for “Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita,” directly connects food producers to consumers. It is now a multiplatform system in order to ease the transport and delivery of commodities and encourage LGUs to distribute nutritious food and minimize reliance on canned goods and instant noodles—the usual staple for any relief package.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar said there were challenges in the movement of products at first.

“So, we are making some adjustments in our Kadiwa program using simple and technological solutions, to ensure continuous and unhampered supply of fresh produce to consumers,” he added.
