Property giant Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) is transforming part of the headquarters of Philippine Red Cross PRC) in Mandaluyong City into a new COVID-19 testing center that can process nearly 3,000 tests per day and produce results within two hours.
The mezzanine area of PRC head office will be converted into a class 2 facility, in line with ALI’s aim to “support the government in the construction of testing facilities to help identify people carrying the virus early on, allowing health workers to quickly isolate and treat them, thereby containing the spread.”
Under the partnership with PRC, a team of volunteers formed by ALI’s unit Makati Development Corp. (MDC) took over electromechanical and architectural works for the testing facility, ALI announced in its website.
Personal protective equipment, regular check-ups and medical services were provided by the company to ensure the health and safety of the team throughout the duration of the project.
The PRC facility will use two reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines and an automated ribonucleic acid (RNA) extraction machine to process samples for COVID-19 testing.
