The Palms Club offers shelter for frontliners

The Palms Country Club of Alabang, in partnership with its developer Filinvest group, opened its doors to be a temporary hub for health workers, nurses and doctors from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in need of shelter during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.

This is the first exclusive sports and lifestyle club to offer accommodations to frontliners, apart from some hotels converted for this purpose.

“The board of the Palms Country Club and its members have responded to the need of our selfless frontliners. This is to ensure that they have a place to stay that is accessible to RITM,” said Francis Gotianun, president of Palms Country Club. “The club will provide the accommodation while Filinvest has pledged to shoulder the utilities including power and water consumption charges that The Palms will incur for the duration of the front liners’ stay at the facility.”

The Palms and Filinvest assured that they were one with the nation in recognizing the need to protect the frontliners, who risk their lives every day in the aim to contain the COVID-19 infection.

Make shift sleeping and shower facilities were installed at the club after it was closed to members during the lockdown.
