Finding love, inspiration at Verona

They say beautiful places could make you fall in love. It allows you to appreciate even the most mundane of things and fascinate you with life’s simple surprises.

All these and more are probably the reasons why Suntrust Properties Inc. developed the 63-hectare Suntrust Verona. Inspired by its namesake Italian city Verona, this enclave is made up of six residential phases and a variety of single-detached and duplex homes set amid lush spaces, designed to exude romance, love and harmony.

“As we all know, Verona is the setting for Shakespeare’s immortal work, Romeo and Juliet. Their timeless love story captured the hearts of romantics all over the world. I guess that inspired us to bring Verona in the country and allow Filipinos to experience the grandiose nature of an Italian city,” said Suntrust Properties Inc. president Harry L. Paltongan.

A slice of Italian paradise

According to Paltongan, the idea of creating this romantic sanctuary came after a trip he made to the city. Impressed by Verona’s charm, he knew that he had to bring the same kind of development here and create their own piece of Verona to provide Filipinos a home where they can also experience the beauty of it without having to leave the country.

“The gentle rolling terrain and cool weather at Suntrust Verona make it an ideal setting for our own slice of Italy. Boticelli’s Venus Rising inspired our grand fountain. Venus, as we know, is the goddess of love and we want a community where families would be inspired to nurture love every day. We want to portray the essence of renaissance art in our project. It connotes the emergence of cultural movement in Italy. In French, it means ’rebirth’ and it gives a profound meaning to what we want to create in Suntrust Verona,” he further said.

Today, Suntrust Verona boasts of a strategic location which only adds to its value as a truly practical investment for many homebuyers. From here, residents are given easy access to various institutions, commercial establishments and even leisure spots. Its design meanwhile was created to promote love and bliss among residents who are trying to find refuge from life’s daily grind.

Welcoming residents and guests to this Italian-inspired enclave is a grand fountain named La Fontana Di Venere, which serves as centerpiece of the circular driveway. Behind it is a pair of stone tower archways with a large clock face that keeps a close watch over those entering and leaving the property.

On the left of the entrance stands a replica of the Casa di Giulietta or the House of Juliet popularized by the film, Letters to Juliet. Further in, at a small courtyard with a wishing well, lies the Love Lock Fence and a replica of Scaliger Bridge (Ponte di Castelvecchio) for lovers where they can profess their love for each other with the symbolic love locks.

“We hope to capture the hearts of Filipino families who would like to settle in a quiet and secure neighborhood away from the maddening crowd. It allows homeowners to just stay in the province to work, to school their children, and live a comfortable lifestyle,” Paltongan shared.

Indeed, Suntrust Properties, through Suntrust Verona, has managed to provide not only a safe dwelling place but also a conducive, nurturing environment that fosters love and lasting relationships. The residents themselves can readily attest to this, as they shared their stories of love and romance nurtured right here at Suntrust Verona.

Manny and Melissa Santos

High school sweethearts Manny and Melissa Santos got married at the age of 19. Like many young couples, life didn’t come easy at first. With hard work and perseverance, however, they now get to enjoy the life they’ve always aspired for.

“As a young couple, life was not easy. We had to continue our studies while working to earn for our baby. Luckily, with God’s blessing and the help of our loving parents, we were able to raise our three children who are all working professionals now,” they shared.

Today, the couple is a picture of a happy married life, living in their Suntrust Verona home, which was the second investment they made.

“We learned about Verona in 2013, when the development of the area was still ongoing. With God’s grace, we were able to acquire in 2015 our dream house. We chose Verona over condominium units in Tagaytay because of its location and ambiance. Units are spacious enough for my family and we have enough space for our garden,” they said.

Moving into Suntrust Verona proved to be the best decision for the Santos couple as it offered them great value for their investment and allowed them to experience romance in the community all year round.

“We are happy to belong in the Verona community, where people are friendly and cooperative,” the couple added.

Roger and Gerly Mendoza

It was love at first sight for couple Roger and Gerly Mendoza, which then blossomed into a blissful union and a truly wonderful love story.

“She’s actually my former colleague’s cousin. The first time I saw her was during one of my visits to her cousin and then boom, it hit me. After that, we’ve been constantly texting. Since I was assigned outside the country, I’ve tried courting her via long distance calls, and the rest is history,” Roger said.

“I’m not that guy who believes in long relationship or engagement. If you really believe she’s the one, then go for it, trust your instincts and let God be the center of your relationship. I married my wife twice on the same year, and now we are happily married for almost 20 years and blessed with four kids,” he added.

Since both are based overseas, they knew that having a good home investment here in the Philippines is a must for the sake and safety of their children. Suntrust Verona proved to be a truly irresistible piece of property for the couple.

Although the couple has yet to permanently move in at Suntrust Verona since they are based overseas, they try to spend as much time as they can here with their kids, especially during school breaks, Christmas or summer.

“Our favorite feature is the veranda where we get to enjoy the cool weather and non stop kwentuhan while having a cup of coffee which, for me, is priceless. The Verona proved to be a perfect investment for us. From the first day we visited the project, my wife and I already fell in love with the place. And since my wife really likes the place, I did not hesitate to make the reservation on that day. As they say, ’happy wife, happy life,’” Roger shared.

“Our community just started growing and I witnessed how it has evolved. We are lucky since we are close with our Verona family. With a great ambiance, loving neighbors, it is truly a good place to retire. I would say no regrets-we’re very fulfilled. There were a few hiccups, but those were minor and manageable. Suntrust Verona is indeed a place where you feel truly at home,” he concluded.
