Beyond Lifetimes: Sun Life Philippines celebrates 125 years of making life brighter for Filipinos

“Today, we are celebrating the ability to change,” said Sun Life Global President and CEO Dean Connor, during the official celebration of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.’s 125th year anniversary in the country.

“Sun Life Philippines has done an excellent job in championing financial security and healthier lives across generations of Filipinos. How they continually evolve and keep up with the times, while remaining true to the company’s purpose, has been a source of inspiration for all of us at Sun Life,” he added.

As the first and longest-standing life insurance company in the country, Sun Life Philippines is celebrating with the theme, “Beyond Lifetimes,” taking pride in its position as the market leader in the country and upholding its commitment to help Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

In his message, Sun Life Philippines CEO and Country Head Benedict Sison shared that they were able to reach their target of 5 million clients last December, one year ahead of their original target date. He also shared the company’s new plans and initiatives lined up for the year, including the Sun Cancer Care, a specialized health insurance plan that provides cash benefits upon diagnosis of early or late stage cancer, and the Sun Pera-Aralan, a financial management program that aims to educate financial literacy to 125,000 public school teachers.

As it sets its sights toward the future, Sun Life has taken the initiative to digitize many of its processes, one of which is the Sun Life Prosperity Funds that are now available online for those who wish to invest in mutual funds conveniently. Paperless applications and straight through processing are also available for clients availing select Sun Life products.

As part of the launch, Sun Life unveiled the Portraits Beyond Lifetimes Exhibit in commemoration of the company’s 125 years in the Philippines. The visual exhibit is inspired by five powerful narratives—real stories of Sun Life clients across generations of Filipinos. The display features the works of brilliant young artists Jappy Agoncillo, Venazir Martinez, Katrina Pallon, Megan Diño, and Abigail Angeles.
