MANILA, Philippines—The National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) Board has given the green light for eight priority infrastructure projects worth P547.6 billion, including the Metro Rail Transit 4 (MRT-4).
In a statement Wednesday, the board, which was chaired by President Duterte, confirmed the Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) approvals of the MRT-4 project, which will be a 15.56-km elevated monorail transit system from N. Domingo, Quezon City to Taytay Diversion Road-Manila East Road rotunda in Taytay, Rizal.
The government is eyeing the completion of MRT-4 by 2025.
The board also approved the Edsa Greenway Project which involves the enhancement of pedestrian facilities around key rail stations along EDEdsaSA, particularly Balintawak, Guadalupe, Cubao, and Taft for the first phase of the project.
Also approved by the board are the following:
-Maritime Safety Enhancement Project
-Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge
-Cebu-Mactan Bridge and Coastal Road
-Capas-Botolan Road in Tarlac and Zambales
-Panay-Guimaras-Negros Island Bridges
-Davao City Coastal Road including Bucana Bridge
“These projects are the building blocks of our people’s dreams and aspirations. As such, we intend to roll out as many as we can to ease congestion and spread growth throughout the country,” Pernia said.
The NEDA Board also approved the Change in Scope and Cost of the Davao City Bypass Construction Project; and the Extensions in Loan Validity and Implementation Period and Increase in Cost of the Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project.
