Malacañang on Sunday called on traders who plan on making handsome profits this Christmas to go for bigger sales volumes rather than jack up the prices of their goods.

“Christmas is a season of giving, hopefully the businessmen are also more giving in their prices,” said Secretary Edwin Lacierda, President Benigno Aquino III’s spokesperson, on government radio dzRB over the weekend.

“Knowing the Christmas season, consumers are more generous. So the volume (of sales), I hope, would substitute for high prices,” he added.

Lacierda also called on consumers to consider safety when buying Christmas lights and other electric devices during the holidays. Norman Bordadora
