Operations normal despite Taal, says AG&P

Homegrown engineering firm AG&P has assured local and global customers that its facilities and manufacturing yards in Batangas province are operating normally, unhampered by the eruption of Taal Volcano.

“[A]ll our employees, site-based clients and contractors in the Philippines are safe and well,” AG&P said in a statement.

“Safety is our main priority, so we are taking all necessary steps to protect our people, while ensuring our business operations are maintained,” the company added.

Now based in Singapore, AG&P Group started in Manila in 1900 and built 90 percent of the country’s prewar bridges as well as the first lubricating oil refinery in the Philippines.

As a global player, AG&P now offers liquefied natural gas (LNG) solutions such as those used for city gas distribution, terminals and logistics, as well as engineering and construction. In particular, AG&P provides modular construction solutions for heavy industry infrastructure including e-houses, integrated power assembly, LNG facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, mining operations and plant utilities.

Many of AG&P’s modular projects are built in its 150-hectare manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, which the company describes as “mini-cities by themselves. Most recently, AG&P Group was tapped to build for Sembcorp Marine Integrated Yard Pte. Ltd. of Singapore the cargo handling system of what is expected to be Asia’s largest LNG bunker ship.

“Our offices in Muntinlupa, Pasig and Leyte are operating normally,” the company said. “AG&P is working closely with all relevant Philippine authorities to actively monitor the situation and to fully comply with their advisories. INQ
