The state pension fund Government Service Insurance System is offering emergency loans to members and pensioners in Batangas and Cavite who had been displaced or suffered losses from the eruption of Taal Volcano.
On its website, GSIS said members and pensioners in the two provinces were qualified to avail themselves of emergency loans being given out in areas where a state of calamity had been declared as a result of the eruption.
In Batangas, the loan would be available from Jan. 18 to Feb. 17. In Cavite, the period was set from Jan. 21 to Feb. 20.
The GSIS also offered emergency loans to members and pensioners in areas devastated by Typhoon Tisoy last December—Masbate (Jan. 17-Feb. 16), Occidental Mindoro (Jan. 16-Feb. 15), Romblon (Jan. 16-Feb. 15), Sorsogon (Jan. 16-Feb. 15), Albay (until Jan. 26), Camarines Sur (until Jan. 26) and Marinduque (until Jan. 26).
The state-run Social Security System (SSS) also approved assistance to members and pensioners hurting from the impact of Taal’s eruption.
In a circular, the SSS offered loans to members and pensioners in Batangas province.
SSS members and pensioners could avail themselves of calamity loans, three-month advance pension or housing repair loans.
SSS would give a grace period of six months in loan payments.
SSS members and pensioners could apply for the loans from Jan. 22 to April 21. House repair loans are available until Jan. 16, 2021.
