Makati CBD gets power boost
To support the robust electricity demand of the Makati central business district, power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has added new facilities at the Legazpi substation that will not only add power capacities, but also improve network reliability.
In a statement, Meralco said it recently commissioned an additional 83 megavolt ampere (MVA) transformer at its Legazpi gas-insulated switchgear substation.
The additional transformer capacity upgraded the Legazpi substation to its full capacity of 249MVA, which will be sufficient to meet the increasing power requirements in the area.
“The recently completed project will not just bring additional capacity, but will also further improve network reliability, switching flexibility and power quality. This is supportive of Makati City’s thrust to keep the business district tag as the prime location for investments,” said Meralco executive vice president Ricardo V. Buencamino.
