More companies pitched in to help alleviate the effects of Taal Volcano’s eruption through their respective relief drives.
Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. launched its “Tulong para sa Taal” campaign, which includes free ash wash-off, free fuel for official donation and rescue vehicles, food drives, donation drives and outreach activities.
At least nine Phoenix fuel stations in Batangas, Laguna, Cavite and southern Metro Manila have been offering to wash off ash from vehicles passing through the area.
Also, Phoenix has partnered with the Philippine Red Cross-Cavite Chapter and Grab Philippines. The company has so far provided at least 1,200 liters of fuel for the partners’ vehicles that were deployed for relief operations.
The company also donated petroleum gas to Lingkod Kapamilya and Alagang Kapatid for use in roving soup kitchens that prepare food for the evacuees.
Affiliate convenience store chain FamilyMart have also set aside ready-to-eat food for distribution to evacuation centers in Batangas and Cavite.
More than 20 Phoenix stations are also serving as drop-off points for in-kind donations.
Meanwhile, renewable energy firm Citicore Power Inc., through Citicore Foundation, mobilized employees to volunteer in the distribution of relief goods in evacuation centers in the towns of Alitagtag, Balayan and Tuy in Batangas.
Citicore president Oliver Tan said they were coordinating with other concerned local government units in order to extend more relief assistance to affected areas.
Manila Water Co. Inc. said it was continuously bringing water by trucks to evacuation centers through its subsidiary Laguna Water.
The Ayala group firm said at least 1,200 cubic meters have been delivered so far to centers in Batangas, Cavite, Laguna and Tagaytay City.
Manila Water Foundation also distributed 6,300 gallons of potable water for evacuees last week. INQ
