Chinese phone maker Oppo opens Asia-Pacific hub

Oppo Electronics opened on Monday a hub center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to oversee the company’s operations in the upcoming 5G era in the Asia-Pacific (Apac) market. The company also announced that 15 new carriers from Apac, including Globe Telecom from the Philippines, were now on board it’s “5G Landing Project,” it’s foray in the next-generation mobile communications technology launched in Barcelona early this year.

More than 300 operators, partners and media outlets from the Apac region attended the conference.

Under the theme “Connecting Tomorrow, Together,” the company unveiled its new business strategy for the 5G era, where it would compete with leading global brands such as Samsung, Apple and Huawei.

At the event, Oppo also showcased its upcoming suite of intelligent devices, including the Oppo 5G CPE T1 connection hub, Enco Free true wireless headphones, AR (augmented reality) glasses and other technical achievements in flash charging technology, 5G, imaging and software optimization.

Oppo plans to launch the Enco Free headphones in the Apac region in January 2020 for about $120 (a little over P6,000).
