Globe offers cashless options to Megaworld unit

One of the country’s largest landlords for homes and office spaces is soon allowing e-money  payments for tenants.

Globe Telecom said in a statement on Wendesday that cashless options will be made available to First Oceanic Property Management Inc. (FOPM), the property management arm of Megaworld Corp.

This will mainly involve the launch of an integrated digital payments platform via the GCash mobile wallet through Globe at Home and Globe Business.

“This attentive digital service provides a 24/7 payment facility, offering ‘pay anywhere and pay anytime’ security, and convenience in today’s fast-paced lifestyle environment,” the company said.

According to its website, FOPM currently manages 6.4 million square meters across 250 office buildings and residential towers mainly located in Metro Manila, Cebu and Iloilo.

Cashless payments will be introduced to an initial 25 managed properties this year with more expected to be enrolled in the platform by 2020, the statement showed.

Megaworld is owned by billionaire Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), whose businesses include liquor, gaming and fast food operations. The plan is in step with the group’s five-year digital transformation program previously announced by AGI CEO Kevin Tan.

FOPM president Josephine Marie Ringler-Salazar said in a statement that the tie-up with Globe will give the company the edge against competition.

“It is about innovation, integration, and interconnectivity. The partnership between FOPM and Globe makes it easier for us to make our developments future-ready, which will greatly benefit those who own and occupy residential units in our managed properties,” she said.

Globe also benefits as it seeks to upgrade internet connectivity to keep up with growing demand.

“To make this program a success, we need to have robust connectivity and uncompromising performance,” Globe Chief Commercial Officer Alberto de Larrazabal said in the same statement.

“These fundamentals are the fields that we at Globe have made available, and we keep improving and expanding on these areas to ensure that property owners and users in FOPM and Megaworld will benefit and be covered,” he added.—MIGUEL R. CAMUS
