A few hours away from Manila, you can reach a perfect place for that quick getaway you need.
The province of Batangas has long been that ideal destination for those living in the metro who want to enjoy the sea, waves, and scenery without needing to travel too far. And apart from beaches and tourist spots, Batangas is also a big hit for the foodies as the province is also home to the country’s best tasting Lomi and the world famous Kapeng Barako.
Even the local and foreign investors are attracted to this Southern Luzon province since it offers an environment that is enabling and conducive for further growth and expansion. Among such businesses that have sought to make Batangas their home is my favorite home retailer, Wilcon Depot, which has been continuously fulfilling its expansion drive to establish more stores in key cities.
On August 30, I attended the grand launching of Wilcon’s third branch in Batangas. It was indeed a blast. The opening of its newest store in Sto. Tomas formed part of Wilcon’s commitment to provide more homeowners and builders in the municipality sustainable, innovative, and high-quality home improvement products.
Given its desire to provide the home improvement and building needs of Batangueños, Wilcon Depot first entered the province in January 2010 and established its first outlet along Diversion Road, Brgy. Alangilan, Batangas City. This was then followed by the opening of a second branch in July last year, which was located in Lipa City.
Wilcon Depot Sto. Tomas, which is the company’s 55th store, is a must-visit home shopping destination that accommodates thousands of strong, reliable local and international brands in the market. The store has a total sales area of over 11,000 sqm, carrying an array of quality home building materials ranging from tiles, sanitarywares, plumbing, furniture, home interior, building materials, hardware, electrical, appliances, and DIY items.
The grand opening celebration started with a motorcade. I joined the ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Wilcon Depot president and chief executive officer Lorraine Belo-Cincochan and Wilcon Depot SEVP-chief operating officer Rosemarie Bosch-Ong, together with Franke Kitchen Philippines country manager Banjo De Leon; Kohler Philippines country manager Jonathan Kwong; Lixil Water Technology Assistant country manager Joralyn Ong; Mariwasa Siam Ceramics, Inc. president Jakkrit Suwansilp; Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) director of professional practice IDR. Kathleen Obcemea; ABS-CBN MetroHome editor-in-chief Anton Barretto; and Batangas Rep. Ma. Theresa Collantes.
