Clark freeport attracts new locators

Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said new projects in Clark Freeport grew in the first seven months of the year, creating nearly 5,300 new jobs.

This brings the total workforce in the freeport to 128,268 as of the end of July. Of this, 36.5 percent or 46,809 are employed by manufacturing firms.

The Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry, according to CDC, was the second biggest employer in the area with 22,827 employees or 17.80 percent.

It is followed by estate developers with 21,806, service industry with 16,317, and tourism with 10,241 employees.

The rest were a mix of other industries that also contributed to the employment in the freeport, including logistics, aviation-related activities and agroindustry.

The CDC, which maintains the Clark Freeport Zone, said that it had 54 new locators in the first seven months of the year, bringing its total locators to 1,092 firms.

The CDC is a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
