The country’s top enterprise leaders have joined Globe Business, the enterprise arm of Globe Telecom, in supporting the “rainforestation” efforts of HIneleban Foundation through donations coming from a friendly game of golf.

The CEO Golf Classic organized by Globe Business combined fun with environmental consciousness. One of its special components is the “Mulligan” or the do-over shot where a player had to donate funds for another chance to recover from a putt that went wrong. Because of the “Mulligan”, the players were able to contribute a total of Php 44,000.00 to Hineleban Foundation, the game’s chosen beneficiary.  Last year, they also contributed Php 38,400 to the foundation through the same tournament.

Hineleban (Hē-ne-leu-bän) is a sacred Binukid term literally meaning “Mother Tree of the rainforest that sustains the cycle of all life.”  The term was adopted by Hineleban Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization based in Bukidnon, Mindanao, whose vision is to ensure the nation’s water, food and human security by reforesting the mountain ranges of Mindanao. Bukidonon is home to the country’s last watersheds and is inhabited by Indigenous People (IP’s) and Bangsamoro communities.

Globe and Hineleban Foundation’s partnership began in December 2016 where they entered into a Sacred Customary Compact with the IPs as well as a Peace and Development role with the Bangsamoro People to identify steps to fulfill the dream of rainforestation. Together, they are reforesting 300 hectares of denuded primary rainforests, a fraction of the 44,000 hectares surveyed and targeted by the Foundation in Bukidnon and Lanao del Sur. The program is structured into five phases over a five-year period, lasting until December 2021.

Globe Business Senior Vice President Peter Maquera shared his delight in the participants’ generosity, “Through the Golf Classic, our partners are able to take part in this important cause of reforesting Bukidnon. We are grateful for the support of our customers, and we are proud to have come together to help the Indigenous People of Bukidnon and Bangsamoro communities.”

The annual CEO Golf Classic, which is now on its record 15th consecutive year, is considered one of the most highly anticipated events from Globe Business. As a premier event, enterprise clientele is invited to play a rousing 18 holes of golf, resulting in stronger bonds and ties with new and existing business partners. This year’s golf classic gathered ninety (90) golf-loving Chief Executive Officers from various industries.

The 15th Globe Business CEO Golf champions are Concentrix’s Michael Montero, Autohub Group’s Willy Te, Globe’s JV Tandingan, and VXI’s Jovy Llanes for Division 1, while IMI’s Art Tan, Accenture’s Lito Tayag, Visaya KPO’s Butch Valenzuela, and Genpact’s Dan Reyes comprise the winners for Division 2. They competed in a four-man scramble with sliding tee-box format, designed to foster teamwork between the players and establish a balance of power among various competing teams’ capabilities.

Globe Business continues to redefine how businesses work—which goes beyond functions, numbers, and performance. It, likewise, enables its clients and partners to catapult their enterprises to success by providing the right technology, infrastructure, and know-how to create a positive impact and transform people’s lives.
