The home has been a place to keep one’s necessities, valuables, heirlooms, and even memories. Philux had this in mind when it developed a line of functional yet stylish storage furniture pieces called the Maxwell Collection.

“There is a Maxwell piece for every room. The collection includes an armoire, a bar cabinet, a buffet table, a four-door and two-door media storage, and a curio cabinet. They are all versatile pieces that can serve whatever purpose you want them to serve—from keeping your documents, kitchenware, clothes, shoes to storing liquor, old books, photos, or dinnerware passed on by your grandmother,” explained Philux head designer Jessica Kienle.

Jessica and her sister, Philux COO Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez, have been at the forefront of the 39-year-old family business and have been constantly developing new designs that suit their client’s needs and wants.

“This collection is an answer to a lot of our clients’ requests. A lot have been asking us for more media storage and bar cabinet options and a shoe rack that does not have to look like one. In a way, our clients were part of this design process because we always have them in mind the whole time we were developing the furniture pieces,” Stephanie added.

The Maxwell armoire, in its versatility, comes in various inner configurations with adjustable shelves, drawers and a hanger rod, while the Maxwell bar cabinet is fitted with shelves, drawers and a wine rack ideal for entertaining at home.

Stephanie shared: “We both love having friends and family over in our own homes so we feel this piece is such a fun, vibrant one.”

The Maxwell buffet as well as the two-door and four-door media storages can essentially store anything that one wants to exhibit such as diningware and cool tech, or anything that one wants hidden entirely from the world such as clutter. The Maxwell has a curio cabinet for those who want sentimental collectibles beautifully displayed.

Each Maxwell piece comes in two drawer face versions—in natural rattan matting or the darker option of a patterned genuine veneer design. The pieces are made sturdy yet sleek with their solid stainless steel legs and brass handles. Like any other Philux piece, the Maxwell pieces come in the clients’ choice of wood, wood finish, handle, and metal finish options.

“And of course, everything is handmade using traditional furniture making techniques. This is at the heart of Philux, that distinct Filipino craftsmanship. We are so proud of the skills our craftsmen have exhibited in the execution of these new designs,” Jessica proudly said.

As an established brand in the industry, this new collection is an indication that while Philux sets its sights on bigger things, it never forgets that offering its clients world class Filipino products is at the heart of it all.

“We are turning 40 years in 2020. It’s such a meaningful milestone and we can only be grateful and excited for what is to come,” Stephanie added.

The collection is yet again a manifestation of Filipino ingenuity and craftsmanship and an ode to the valuable things, both practical and sentimental, that we choose to keep. The Maxwell Collection was launched last June 4 at Philux Home, Shangri-La at The Fort. The collection will be available for viewing in all Philux showrooms soon.
