Skytrax names PAL as ‘most improved airline’ in 2019

MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) was hailed as the most improved airline in 2019 by international rating firm Skytrax.

According to Skytrax, the most improved airline award was based on “airline’s change in the global rating and performance improvements in different award categories.”

British Airways secured in the second spot, followed by Malaysia Airlines in third, Fiji Airways in fourth, and Royal Brunei Airlines in fifth.

Other airline companies included in the list are Gulf Air in sixth, United Airlines in seventh, Air Mauritius in eighth, Level in ninth, and Spirit Airlines in 10th.

PAL was also named as the 30th best airline in the world this year, improving 19 places from 49th in 2018.

Qatar Airways was hailed as the best airline in the world, followed by last year’s number one Singapore Airlines.

ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, EVA Air, Hainan Airlines, Qantas Airways, Lufthansa, and Thai Airways also made it to the top 10.

Skytrax said the ranking on the best airlines was based on votes from airline customers around the world.
