“Globe, being a responsible digital company, is committed to respect and protect the personal data that our customers entrust us with in order for us to create quality services and products suitable to their needs. Globe also continues to upgrade its capabilities to make sure that the company and the data we handle are well-protected from external threats,” said Peter Maquera, Head of Globe Business, the enterprise arm of Globe Telecom.

Globe has already invested millions of dollars in ensuring that the company could fend off cybersecurity attacks not only to its network but also to its corporate clients.  Globe has leveraged on its assets and existing partnerships to come up with ready solutions. “Cybersecurity is not an option. There are real threats out there. That is why we put a priority on that.  We want to protect the privacy of our customers and we have the right products to do it,” he pointed out.

The company provides round-the-clock support from its Advanced Security Operations Center (ASOC) and follows globally recognized industry standards that help businesses identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover from Cybersecurity threats online.

While doing its best to protect the data of its customers, Globe stressed that the conscious involvement of the public is also important.  Through its Digital Thumbprint Program and #MakeItSafePH campaign, Globe continues to promote proper online behavior and responsible internet usage among consumers to keep them safe from numerous threats present on the internet.

Pursuant to President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 527 in 2018, the PAW is annually observed every last week of May by public and private institutions, with NPC acting as the lead agency. This, in recognition of the “need to inform and educate the public about data privacy, data protection, and fair information rights and responsibilities as part of reinforcing the efforts of the NPC in protecting personal data and ensuring the Philippines’ compliance with international standards set for data protection.”
