LBC posts steady growth in revenue
LBC Express Holdings Inc. (LBCH), listed company of the country’s foremost logistics brand, recently announced its favorable year-end results for 2018.
The group’s service revenues increased by 25 percent to P12.51 billion in 2018, from P10.02 billion the previous year, mainly due to the 25-percent growth in retail logistics sales and 35-percent hike in corporate logistics sales.
In 2018, LBCH expanded operations by acquiring one local and nine international entities engaged in money remittance, and online and regular logistics services.
There is also continuous growth in the domestic business, evidenced by the opening of 76 additional retail branches and the introduction of new products mid-2018, with total contribution of these to total revenue amounting to P123.67 million.
Improvement in the corporate/institutional segment of the group is also noteworthy, as it expanded its e-commerce directed logistics and warehousing services, while maintaining its annual growth of corporate/institutional accounts.
Net income after tax increased by 91 percent to P1.34 billion in 2018 from P707.92 million in 2017, mainly related to growth in gross profit by 16 percent.
E-commerce continues to open doors for logistics.

He adds, “It’s a very exciting time in logistics, and there’s much to do quickly in order to be constantly, globally competitive—everything is now in “real time;” getting into digital is definitely a must.”
2 Serdef books adopted by RTU
Two books published by the Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (Serdef) are now being used by the Rizal Technological University (RTU) in teaching entrepreneurship to its students.
The books adopted for use by RTU in the second semester are Entrepreneurship Study and Practice written by Dr. Herminia Fajardo, Serdef vice president, and Dr. Paz Diaz, Serdef trustee; and Product Development for Small Enterprises written by Prof. Arturo Ilano of the CEA Virata School of Business, University of the Philippines.
“Entrepreneurship Study and Practice is premised on the central role the entrepreneur plays in running and growing the business. More than capital resources, more than supportive fiscal climate, more than a receptive market, more than all other factors said to make business initiatives thrive and grow, we main it is the entrepreneur’s personality and skills that make the difference between a flourishing and a failed business,” said Serdef president Dr. Paterno Viloria in the foreword.
Meanwhile, Serdef chair Dr. Nelia Gonzalez noted that “Product Development for Small Enterprises describes different types of product and services and what consumers value and look for in them. It also discusses in depth customer needs, wants and demands.”
