BREAKING: Manila Water COO resigns
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water Co. Inc. on Tuesday said it has accepted the resignation of Geodino V. Carpio as chief operating officer who served the company for 22 years.
Manila Water did not explain why Carpio is leaving the company, effective at the close of business hours on April 16.
As COO, Carpio was most recently visible to the public when explaining the supply shortage that left many customers without water for days.
Abelardo P. Basilio will take over Carpio’s seat as acting COO for Manila Water Operations, concurrent with his current roles as group director for strategic asset management and data protection officer.
A civil engineer, Basilio started his career with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System. He had been chief of Manila Water’s technical services group, the business operations of the East Zone concession, and corporate regulatory affairs. /muf
