The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has launched a new central outlet that will process and issue civil registry documents such as birth and marriage certificates.
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center said the new Civil Registry System (CRS) Building, located at PSA Complex in East Avenue, Quezon City, started serving the public early this month.
The project was made possible through a PPP contract called the Civil Registry System-Information Technology Project Phase 2, which was among the PPP deals bid out during the tail end of the term of the Aquino administration.
The P1.59-billion project was bagged by Unisys Managed Services Corp. The 12-year concession agreement was signed on Sept. 30, 2016.
Since it became operational, applications for the issuance of civil registry documents were transferred from the old site at the Solicarel Building, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The PPP project was aimed at bringing civil registry operations into the digital age. According to the PSA, documents pertaining to one’s birth, marriage or death will have a fee of P155 and a processing time of one hour. A certificate of no marriage costs P210 and will be processed in two to three days.
According to the PSA, two identification cards must be provided by the requester when applying for civil registry documents, or if only one ID is available, the requester will have to present the ID and its photocopy.
If a representative of the requester will apply, a letter of authority and IDs of the document owner and the requester will be required.
“The PSA does not encourage the public to bring a companion to manage the queue. Special lane is available at the central outlet for senior citizens, persons with disability and pregnant women,” the statement showed.
The public can avail themselves of these services at other CRS outlets in Metro Manila, including the cities of Pasay, Makati, Muntinlupa and Pasig. The documents can also be requested at any SM mall business service centers.
