The first documented arrival of the Spaniards in Davao was in 1543.
San Pedro Cathedral is Davao city’s oldest church, with its original structure dating back to 1847.
Mt. Apo, the country’s highest peak at 2,954 meters, is located in Davao. It straddles Davao City, Davao del Sur and North Cotabato.
In 1986, combining three famous icons of Davao namely Mt. Apo, durian, and Waling-Waling, the city held the festival “Apo Duwaling,” which was renamed “Kadayawan sa Dabaw” two years later, after the word madayaw, a warm and friendly greeting.
Davao City is home to 11 ethno-linguistic tribes.
Victoria Plaza is Davao City’s first shopping mall built in the early 1990s.
