Ayala-led Integrated Micro-Electronics (IMI) has improved its ranking among the world’s 50 largest contract manufacturers by one notch to 17th place based on 2018 revenues.
This is based on the 2018 list of top electronic manufacturing service (EMS) companies in the world by Manufacturing Market’s Insider, the only publication dedicated to the world of contract manufacturing.
IMI recorded $1.35 billion in global revenues for 2018, up by 24 percent from the previous year.
EMS refers to companies that design, manufacture, test, distribute, and provide return/repair services for electronic components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturers.
In 2018, IMI’s business pipeline expanded with $320 million in new project awards, 72 percent of which were for automotive applications.
In the automotive EMS segment alone, IMI is now the world’s fifth largest, gaining from growing demand for intelligent cars across the globe.
In September of last year, IMI opened a new manufacturing hub in the the city of Niš, Republic of Serbia, the 21st factory in its growing global network. This is seen to complement IMI’s production facilities elsewhere: in the Philippines, China, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
