IP-Converge expands data center
Publicly listed IP Converge Data Center Inc. has expanded its data center operations through a new facility in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig to meet the country’s increasing demand for data center co-location services, the company said Tuesday.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, IP-Converge said its new facility would help local businesses migrate to “cloud computing” where data and programs are stored and are run from remote servers.
IP-Converge is one of the country’s prime movers of cloud computing, which frees companies from buying and maintaining their own servers.
Under its cloud computing thrust, the company offers a full suite of cloud solutions—from infrastructure-as-a-service operating in its telco-grade data centers to platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service through its partnerships with other international firms in the cloud computing space.
“Cloud computing will soon be a standard model for business operations in the Philippines,” IP-Converge president Reynaldo Huergas said. “Through this, enterprises will see increased productivity, cost savings, faster time to market and the leverage needed to be at par with global players.”
Cloud computing is the delivery of applications, infrastructure, or computing platforms as a service using shared data center resources. It enables users to access and subscribe to such services, anytime, anywhere, over the Internet.
The state-of-the-art facility dubbed “IPC Data Center BGC” is an expansion of IP-Converge’s first Internet data center located at RCBC Plaza, Makati City.
“This expansion is a testament to how more and more enterprises are starting to see the benefits of data center co-location,” Huergas said.
“From businesses that rely on private cloud systems for internal operations, to providers of public cloud services like social media and e-commerce, and companies requiring worry-free disaster recovery contingencies, data center co-location is the best way to keep operations stable, secure and cost-efficient,” he added.
