Daku Balay
Daku Balay
Also known to locals as the Boat House, the Generoso Villanueva Mansion was built in 1933. The 5,000-square-meter, three-story Art-Deco structure has curved balconies, spiral staircase, curvilinear walls and hallways, porthole windows, roof deck and parapets.
Manokan Country
It is a complex of food stalls serving Bacolod’s famous chicken inasal (marinated grilled chicken) and other grilled foods.
Capitol Park and Lagoon
This public place offers a majestic view of the neoclassic provincial capitol building and the artificial lagoon in front of it. On its east entrance stands the masterpiece monument “Paghimud-os” (Perseverance) by the late renowned sculptor Eduardo Castrillo.
Negros Museum
It veers away from the traditional display of artifacts and instead used contemporary artworks to portray the story of Negrense–from the aboriginal Ati through the sugar boom during the Industrial Revolution, to the decline in the 1980s and the fluctuations of lifestyle that goes along with it.
San Sebastian Cathedral
Located at downtown Bacolod, it was originally built as a small chapel in 1882 using coral stones from Guimaras Island. Beside the cathedral is the Palacio Episcopal or Bishop’s Palace which was constructed in 1830.
Calea
Considered one the city’s most popular dessert shops, this homegrown business takes pride of its wide selection of homemade cakes and other pastries that are reasonably priced.
