Home grown engineering firm Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila Inc. (AG&P) was feted as the Best Global Infrastructure Company for 2018 for its work related to making natural gas available in emerging markets at lower costs.
The recognition was among various awards given out in relation to Global Energy Magazine’s (GEM) Global Energy Awards 2018.
The United Kingdom-based information platform caters to over 85,000 people working in the energy sector worldwide focusing on key issues relating to energy efficiency, infrastructure and technology, oil and gas, and renewable energy.
In a statement, GEM said it recognized entities that “go above and beyond” in developing new solutions to enhance access to and uptake of cleaner energies—both traditional and alternative energy sources.
“As with all of our awards, the 2018 Global Energy Awards are awarded purely on merit,” the magazine said.
“To ensure this, our in-house research team has gone to great lengths to explore the endeavors of each and every nominee, to identify who deserves acknowledgement for their outstanding performance,” it added.
AG&P was cited for making clean natural gas conveniently available at lower costs to multiple customer streams in emerging markets through a vertically integrated platform.
This refers to AG&P’s expertise in delivering standardized, scalable liquefied natural gas terminal solutions that match demand, allowing for reduced costs and accelerated schedules.
In November, AG&P said it was beefing up its workforce by 5,000 to make it 7,000-strong, as a number of contracts usher its return to the Philippine heavy industry construction market.
AG&P said it had been awarded major contracts that would be implemented over a two-year period and which would need engineers, welders, painters, cutters, fitters, electrical and instrumentation experts. .—RONNEL W. DOMINGO
