MANILA — A total of 68,284 passengers flew on 414 domestic and international flights of Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) and its subsidiary Cebgo last Dec. 21, 2018—the highest number flown on a single day. That figure surpassed the previous record of 65,298 passengers flown last May 7, 2018, during the summer peak season.

For the yuletide peak season covering Dec. 16, 2018 to Jan. 7, 2019, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flew a total of 1.391 million passengers, up 7.4 percent versus the same period year-on-year.

On any given day, CEB and Cebgo operate over 400 flights. CEB operates flights out of seven hubs in the Philippines—Manila, Clark, Iloilo, Kalibo, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro (Laguindingan) and Davao, to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and USA.

“We are pleased to have enabled hundreds of thousands of passengers to make memories and moments during the yuletide season. We thank the airport authorities, our partners, stakeholders, and most of all, our staff for the effort to help serve the traveling public during the peak travel period. As passenger traffic continues to grow, we are committed to improving our service to make flying with Cebu Pacific more pleasant, safer and more efficient,” said Michael Ivan Shau, Chief Operating Officer of Cebu Pacific.

Cebu Pacific has invested in technology and infrastructure to help facilitate the boarding and deplaning of passengers at the airports and to make inflight operations more efficient.

These include the MAX platform for airport check-in operations, as well as handling of flight disruptions, and inflight passenger management, among others; and step-free passenger boarding ramps designed to provide easier access for all including those with reduced mobility.

Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets in the world with an average age of 5.06 years for all its aircraft as of Dec. 31, 2018.

Its 71-strong fleet is comprised of 36 Airbus A320, seven (7) Airbus A321CEO, eight (8) Airbus A330, eight (8) ATR 72-500, and 12 ATR 72-600 aircraft. Between 2019 and 2022, CEB expects delivery of five (5) Airbus A320NEO (New Engine Option) and 32 Airbus A321NEO aircraft; as well as four (4) ATR 72-600 aircraft.
