After the Marawi siege of 2017, access to water by the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the temporary shelters became a key challenge.

Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) and Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) teamed up to provide a sustainable solution to the problem by providing water tanks to underserved transitional shelter sites and elementary schools around the region.  Aside from the tanks, the team also conducted Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) activities for the children through simple lessons done via games and songs. The children also received basic hygiene kits.

Today, over 140,000 Marawi IDPs can access 200,000L of water.

It is Pepsi Philippines’ hope that with the water, the people will have a renewed determination to pursue the rebuilding of the city and return to its prosperous state.
