SM group-led dormitory developer and operator Philippines Urban Living Solutions (PULS) Inc. is building its largest coliving property to date—a seven-story 1,000-bed dormitory along Kalayaan Avenue in Makati.
PULS has broken ground on the latest building, MyTown Los Angeles, which is set to open by 2020.
The building is positioned alongside the BGC—Ortigas Link Bridge which is set to be completed by the end of 2019.
“Location is key as we’ll bring much-needed MyTown coliving spaces to Uptown with this project. Moreover, the building is less than 15 minutes away from Makati CBD, 10 minutes from Ortigas, and other MyTown buildings are just two- to five-minute walk from MyTown Los Angeles,” PULS chief executive officer Mark Kooijman said in a statement.
“We’ve continued to innovate our product, and that’ll really show at MyTown Los Angeles. This project brings location, an ecosystem for people to live, work and play, and modern facilities and amenities together while giving our tenants the familiar overall MyTown experience. This is one of our most exciting projects yet,” said Jelmer Ikink, group director of PULS.
To date, PULS operates 16 dormitories in the metropolis, mostly catering to the BGC and Makati market. Its dormitory chain has served more than 10,000 young professionals, with a total of 3,000 beds.
Across the metropolis, there is a growing pool of office workers—especially young people who have just entered the workforce—who need halfway homes but cannot yet afford to purchase or even rent condominium units near their places of work. This made bed spacing their best option.
With the launch of MyTown Los Angeles, the brand aims to expand its network and tap the Ortigas central business district.
As it stands visibly in the UpTown area along 8th Avenue, PULS expects MyTown Los Angeles to “become a landmark in this part of BGC.” PULS vowed this property would provide green spaces and “never-before-seen” amenities.
