Telco giant PLDT Inc. is bringing its home fiber service to Marikina City in Metro Manila.
PLDT said it had partnered with the Marikina local government, which allowed it to expand its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service to 16 barangays in the city—Barangka, Calumpang, Concepcion Uno, Concepcion Dos, Fortune, Industrial Valley, Jesus Dela Peña, Malanday, Marikina Heights, Nangka, Parang, San Roque, Santa Elena, Santo Niño, Tañong and Tumana.
Romerico N. Gonzales, PLDT’s service operations zone head for the Marikina roll out, said Marikina customers could avail themselves of plans that offer internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit a second.
This allows faster video streaming or downloads, he said.
PLDT said the rollout included residential villas such as Vista Valley, Provident, Monte Vista, Cinco Hermanos, Goodrich, Patricia Homes, Friendly Village, Pangilinan, and Rancho Estate.
Businesses in Marikina—those along Lilac St., Shoe Ave., Bonifacio, Gil Fernando and Sumulong Ave. can likewise be served by PLDT’s FTTH facilities.
PLDT’s FTTH expansion in Marikina City is the latest phase in its nationwide fiber expansion program. It adds to the roll out of fiber in Toledo City in Cebu, General Santos in Mindanao, Naga City in the Bicol region, among others. —MIGUEL R. CAMUS
