Incumbent officials of Alliance Select Foods International Inc. welcomed the news that a Pasig City court recalled their warrants of arrest.
A statement on Thursday showed that Branch 70 of Pasig City Metropolitan Trial Court had recalled the arrest warrants for Alliance Select president Raymond K.H. See, director Marie Grace Vera Cruz and chair Antonio Pacis for being issued in violation of their right to due process.
In the statement, See said he was “happy with the court’s decision because the rule of law has been upheld.”
The case stems from inspection charges filed by Singaporean shareholder Hedy S.C. Yap-Chua.
Yap-Chua had requested inspection of company books and records to scrutinize transactions entered into by the former management of the company.
“While the former and incumbent officers allowed her the inspection at this instance, they specified some confidentiality and inspection guidelines for Yap-Chua’s staff and consultants, which she interpreted as a denial of her right to inspect,” the statement showed. —MIGUEL R. CAMUS
