PSEi closes above 4,100

The local market ended the week mixed amid weak volume due to the lack of leads to guide investors.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) lost 3.97 points or 0.09 percent to close at 4,166.60 points on Friday.

The broader all-shares index, however, was up 0.58 point or 0.02 percent. Trading volume was thin at 2.7 billion shares valued at P2.81 billion.

The financials and industrial subsectors closed in the red, losing 0.8 and 0.08 percent, respectively. All other subindices were up, with property shares leading the charge with a gain of 0.62 percent.

This was mainly driven by Megaworld Corp., which was the day’s most actively traded issue, rising 3.22 percent to P1.92 apiece.

Market heavyweight Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) was also among the day’s actively traded shares, rising 0.72 percent to P2,232 each.

This propped up the services subindex by 0.22 percent.

Advancers, at 70, slightly edged out the day’s 66 decliners while 44 issues were unchanged.
