A joint venture of the Ayala group’s AC Energy and Vietnam’s AMI Renewables Energy Joint Stock Co. has tapped Chinese firm Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System to supply solar modules for two flagship projects with a combined generation capacity of 80 megawatts in Vietnam.
Seraphim said in a statement it had committed to deliver the photovoltaic (PV) modules to help the projects meet the goal of commissioning by late April 2019.
One project is the 30-megawatt BMT Solar Farm Project, which will be built at the Ea Phe and Krong Puk Commune, Krong Pac District, Dak Lak Province.
The other one is the 50-MW KH Solar Farm Project, which will be built at Cam An Nam Commune, Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province.
“This is Seraphim’s first project in Vietnam [which] is currently the largest PV market in Southeast Asia,” Seraphim general manager Polaris Li said in a statement.
Since its founding in 2011, Seraphim has provided supplies for projects with aggregate generating capacity of 3,000 MW, spread out in more than 30 countries.
Earlier this year, AC Energy signed with AMI Renewables documents for engineering, procurement and construction as well as financing of solar plants in Vietnam that cost a total of $83 million.
AC Energy said the facilities were expected to be commissioned in time for the June 2019 solar feed-in tariff deadline.
The joint venture was formed last year to build renewable energy plants in Vietnam, including the 352-MW Quang Binh wind project.
