PH stocks rally on window dressing, gains in US
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) gained on Wednesday on end of the month window dressing and a rally on Wall Street overnight.
The PSEi gained 1.77 percent, or 124.23 points, to 7,140.29 while the broader all-shares index went up 1.41 percent to 4,370.46.
All subsectors were in the green while trading volume rose.
Leading the way were industrial companies, which gained 2.16 percent. It was followed by holding firms, up 1.87 percent, and then property stocks, up 1.79 percent.
Data from the PSE showed some 604.8 million shares valued at P7.3 billion changed hands yesterday.
There were 100 gainers while 84 companies declined and 45 closed unchanged.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the PSE, SM Prime Holdings Inc. was the most actively traded company as it gained 0.15 percent to P33.80 per share.
It was followed by International Container Terminal Services, down 0.55 percent to P90.50, Ayala Land Inc., up 3.52 percent to P39.65, Ayala Corp., up 2.22 percent to P920, and Jollibee Foods Corp., up 4.55 percent to P276 per share.
