MWC unit bags Pangasinan contract

Manila Water Co. Inc. yesterday said its subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures, Inc. (MWPV) had received the go-ahead from the town government of San Fabian in Pangasinan related to a P742-million project that is expected to be operational by next year.

This follows an ordinance granting MWPV a 25-year water service franchise for building, managing and maintaining a water supply system and facilities as well as providing wastewater treatment for San Fabian.

This is MWPV’s second contract in Pangasinan, the first one being undertaken through Calasiao Water Co. Inc., which has a concession agreement with the Calasiao Water District (CWD).

Calasiao Water is a 90-10 joint venture between Manila Water and the CWD.

The concession commits Calasiao Water to design, construct, rehabilitate, operate, maintain, finance, expand and manage the water supply system in Calasiao for 25 years.

MWPV also has two contracts in Bulacan, one a joint venture agreement that was signed last August with Bulacan Water District (BWD).

The partnership with BWD is aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of water supply to more than 12,000 residents of Bulakan town, including the provision of sanitation services.

Earlier this year, Manila Water through subsidiary Obando Water Co. Inc. signed a 25-year concession agreement with Obando Water District to provide water supply and water services to residents of 11 barangays in that town.
