Telecom and technology giant Globe recently held its first-ever fashion festival at the Bonifacio Global City. Dubbed “StylefestPH”, the event spanned three days, from September 7 to 9, and emphasized Globe’s continuing progression, moving beyond communications to a broader lifestyle ecosystem.

Over the course of the event, StylefestPH highlighted the latest in the world of fashion, beauty, and shopping through its three main platforms: Stylespace, Styletalks and Stylespotting.

Guests enjoyed the style tips and makeup tutorials available at Stylespace.

Stylespace was held at the Globe Iconic BHS Amphitheater, gathering hip and happening local purveyors of style and beauty to showcase their wares and services. With displays from Marikina shoemaker Black Wing Shoes to rolltop bag outfitter Nomadic Tendencies, makeup tutorials and more, Stylespotting was an opportunity for shoppers to meet some of the brands they’ve only seen through Instagram or Facebook. This was also an opportunity for retailers and customers alike to familiarize themselves with digital currencies like Mynt’s GCash and Globe Rewards, which make for a safer, faster, and hassle-free shopping experience.

FEATURED STORIES

The Grand Hyatt Manila, on the other hand, played host to both Styletalks and Stylespotting events.  Styletalks gathered experts and practitioners from the fashion and beauty industry to share their experiences and knowledge to an audience consisting mostly of fashion designers, models, lifestyle media and fashionistas. Day 1 was a mesmerizing talk on the confluence of fashion and technology held by Amanda Cosco, fashion journalist and founder of consultancy Electric Runway. Cosco gave the audience a peek into the cutting edge of wearable technology, even bringing a few samples such as a jacket that can control your smart home via the Internet of Things (IoT) and yoga pants that could tell the wearer whether her Downward Dog pose was correct.

Fashion futurist and CEO of Electric Runway, Amanda Cosco shares with guests some insights about the fashion industry.

On Day 2, Styletalks put together a powerhouse panel of speakers: Paolo Campos of Zalora, beauty blogger Ana Victorino, stylist, entrepreneur and all-around multi-hyphenate Jenni Epperson and her whip-smart daughter Aryanna, lauded accessory designer Ken Samudio and bag designer Amina Aranaz-Alunan. Through anecdotes and personal advice, each shared his or her story on how they established their brands and how to succeed in the industry.

Stylefestph would not be complete without Stylespotting, a series of fashion shows held on the evenings of Friday through Sunday at the Grand Hyatt. Stylespotting opened with designer Bang Pineda’s collection aptly named, POWER.  Featuring a palette of mostly blacks and whites, with Blade Runner-style typographic prints running across some garments, the collection was street style with a detailed tailored flair.

In this program, fashion and beauty stalwarts Inno Sotto, Sarah Santiago, Paulo Campos, Leah de Guzman, Pam Quiñones, Jigs Mayuga and Carmina Sanchez-Jacob took several promising designers under their wing. These young designers then created looks for Zalora Philippines and 0917 Lifestyle, which were immediately available online at Zalora.com.ph and shop.globe.com.ph after the show.

Guests were able to browse through her collection and purchase them before anyone else at an exclusive special event rate of 15% off. In the evening, viewers were dazzled by debut collections from Fashion Exchange International (FEI) designers Martin Baustista, Maureen Disini and Michael Leyva.
