The infrastructure committee of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) Board has green-lighted P155 million to fund feasibility studies for three upcoming projects.
In a statement over the weekend, the Neda said the feasibility studies would be financed through the project development and other related studies (PDRS) special purpose fund.
The Neda-administered PDRS was allotted P1.595 billion under the 2018 national budget, to be spent on crafting feasibility studies and master plans for big-ticket infra projects.
The feasibility study for the Department of Transportation’s Pampanga Mass Transit System project “will look at the establishment of mass transit routes along Mac Arthur Highway and within the Clark Freeport Zone,” the Neda said.
“The DOTr project aims to promote sustainable land development along the transport corridor including Clark Green City,” it added.
The feasibility study for the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Water Supply Project in Selected LGUs for the Local Government Support Fund-Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat, meanwhile, “will identify reliable water sources for the construction of water systems” in local government units.
As for the feasibility study of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s Ipo Dam No. 3 project, Neda said it “will involve the construction of a dam downstream of the New Ipo Dam and upstream of the Bustos Dam.”
“The Ipo Dam No. 3 project will also be a catchment for spillage from Angat Dam to mitigate flooding in the area.” —BEN O. DE VERA
